Glisk: noun, Scots (archaic) – the glimmer of sunlight through darkening clouds.
Glisk is an artist’s studio, situated in two adjoining shops at 113-115 High Street, Burntisland in Fife. The left hand shop is dedicated entirely as a working studio space, and is where painter Jane Francis currently works in painting, mixed media and small scale sculpture. Her work can be viewed on her website. The Glisk studio can accommodate several artists, and is a lovely space for workshops and collaborations. The right hand shop contains a light and peaceful gallery space, suitable for small exhibitions and events. Jane also opens this space to the public weekly on Fridays from 10am to 5pm. You’ll find her own work, including cards and prints, as well as curated work by a selection of other artists and makers.
Due to recent developments with Covid19, Scotland is entering a nation-wide tier 4 regimen beginning on boxing day 2020, lasting for three weeks. Glisk Gallery Space will remain closed to the public until Friday 22nd January, 2021. If events change this may be changed to even later in the new year. Please bear with us during this difficult time for all types of public spaces. Hopefully at some point in 2021 we’ll be able to resume the initial plan for the space to be lively with exhibitions, pop up shops, collaborations and workshops.
