New configuration for Glisk Gallery Space
The gallery space at Glisk has had some new and exciting work done, building a new stud wall between the gallery and the office/utilities spaces. This creates privacy for the office and offers new possibilities for display in the gallery. When Glisk was first renovated from the run down and dilapidated shops it had previously been, I deliberately chose to leave the kitchen area visible from the gallery. I wanted at the time to create a comfortable space for the studio inhabitant to come to get some lunch or a coffee and relax and read. It served this purpose very well, and while Glisk was a shop/gallery, open two days a week to the public throughout 2020 and 2021, I really think it had a lovey relaxing feel which visitors enjoyed and appreciated. It gave the showcased art and craft a chance to be seen in a domestic-like environment. Since early 2022, when Glisk became an exhibition space, and has hosted several incredible events, it has naturally evolved, and it was the right time to add the demarcation between the two spaces. Our next exhibition in March (watch this space) will be the first to inhabit the space in its new configuration, and we’re really looking forward to that.
