Montage - Exhibition at Glisk - Trevor Davies

Sometimes I start with an idea, sometimes with simply a reaction to a mark or a stain on a surface, or to a piece of found material. I’m always attracted to something old, worn, used, discarded; it provides me with a sense of mystery, of being there and not there. So there are things half-hidden. And marks left behind newly discovered. The human form constantly appears as do the marks and artefacts that bear the imprint of human hands. I work in oil paint, in various water media and in collage on paper, fabric or wood and move between representational and abstract themes with an emphasis on surface, texture and edge.
